SHIRLEY CLAIRE WILLIAMS

Years of experience as an interior designer, and a rich musical background, have developed in Shirley an innate appreciation for line, form, color and rhythm, and she freely transposes these fundamentals to her artistic expression. Engaging the movement of the gestural, complex and dramatic brushstroke as creative line, she creates visual compositions that blithely articulate her fascination with the natural world. An ardent plein air landscape painter, Shirley participates in competitions locally and travels regularly to learn from contemporary masters in both landscape and still life painting at workshops across the USA and Canada. Working primarily from life, she paints in oil, on site or directly from vignettes set in her North Shore studio.

Williams was born in Montreal, Quebec and currently resides in West Vancouver, BC.  Her paintings hang in beautiful homes from Vancouver to Cape Town, SA.
